The Labour Lords team is holding the government to account and addressing issues affecting the lives of people both in the UK and around the world. We complement the work of our MPs in the Commons.
Scrutiny
Our Peers scrutinise government legislation and policy by using wide-ranging skills and expertise from the health and education sectors, trade unions, academia, business and the arts. Many remain active in their professional fields.
Leadership
Our Peers embody Labour's values of social justice, equal opportunity and fairness for all. They show political leadership by constructively scrutinising and improving legislation, and by working to build support across the House.
Communicating
We promote our work through both traditional and social media, with our @LabourLordsUK feed providing information and commentary on our activities in Parliament.
Listening
Our Peers work closely with NGOs and charities with first-hand experience of what is happening on the front line of public services and in the wider world. This helps inform our decisions on where we should seek to challenge or change legislation.
Campaigning
Labour's team in the Lords campaigns on a broad range of issues. Whether at weekends or during elections and by-elections, many of our people will be out making the case on behalf of our Party's candidates, councillors and MPs.
